The MetrologyWorks Silverback Series SMR’s are our version of the classic glass optic Laser Tracker SMR. They include 3-panel glass optic assemblies that are very precisely centered in hardened stainless steel spheres. These SMR’s are known for their entry level price point as well as their overcoated optics. The clear overcoat protects the optics from the elements and allows them to be cleaned more frequently while minimizing potential scratching of the reflective surface.
Our Silverback Series SMR’s feature a proprietary design that includes an isolation core, which adds stability and durability. Our unique design also enables our proprietary centering process, which can yield very high accuracy SMR’s. Each SMR includes a flared, anodized aluminum protecting ring as well. These protecting rings block stray light from entering the optic while providing a wider entry angle, and they also allow the use of our optional lanyard kits. The protecting rings are removable for applications that require even greater entry angle.
Like all glass panel SMR’s, the Silverback Series reflectors are inherently fragile, and their optics run the risk of cracking or shattering if they are accidentally dropped. If you are taking laser tracker measurements in an application where accidental drops are a concern, we encourage you to look at either our break resistant (Rhino Series and Gladiator Series) or Solid SMR options for enhanced durability.
