The exclusive MetrologyWorks 24K Series SMR’s are our newest glass optic SMR offering. Like our Silverback SMR’s, they also feature a 3-panel glass optic assembly that is accurately centered in the stainless steel ball. However, the reflective surface of the 24K SMR’s is gold with a clear protective overcoat. The gold surface on the optics can provide superior reflectivity with some laser tracker models, and the 24K SMR’s have shown particularly good performance in long distance applications compared to other SMR’s.
Like the Silverback Series SMR’s, the 24K SMR’s also feature our exclusive isolation core, which adds stability and durability. This unique design enables our proprietary centering process, which can yield very high accuracy SMR’s. Each SMR includes a flared, anodized aluminum protecting ring as well. These protecting rings block stray light from entering the optic while providing a wider entry angle, and they also allow the use of our optional lanyard kits. The protecting rings are removable for applications that require even greater entry angle.
