Like our Rhino Series SMR’s, our newest SMR offering, the Gladiator Series, also features our proprietary, ultra-durable Precise-Lok technology. The inserted titanium optic with gold reflective surface cannot dislodge from the ball. Additionally, the titanium insert provides greater fracture toughness and hardness compared to aluminum SMR inserts. Titanium also provides much better thermal stability than aluminum over a wider temperature range. Even if you need to take laser tracker shots in extreme temperatures, Gladiator SMR’s provide the peace of mind that you can Drop, Pick Up, and Measure On if they accidentally slip out of their nests or your hand. They provide the durability and performance of a Solid SMR, but at a more affordable price point.

Each SMR includes a flared, anodized aluminum protecting ring as well. These protecting rings block stray light from entering the optic while providing a wider entry angle, and they also allow the use of our optional lanyard kits. The protecting rings are removable for applications that require even greater entry angle.

For more specialized applications, we also offer one additional unique ball finish option with our 1.5″ Gladiator Series SMR’s:

  • Coated Ball SMR’s feature an abrasion resistant, hardened coating on the stainless steel ball. They are an excellent option if you are directly measuring highly abrasive surfaces with your SMR’s. The abrasion resistant coating greatly reduces wear rates of the SMR sphere surface and can help extend the life of your SMR’s.
