Portable Metrology Mounting Solutions

MetrologyWorks produces a comprehensive line of portable metrology mount options, which support portable arms (FARO, Hexagon/Romer, Kreon, RPS, and more), laser trackers (FARO, API, and Leica), Laser Radar (Nikon), and other Large Volume Scanners.

Our mount options include Rolling Metrology Stands, Portable Metrology Tripods, Magnetic Metrology Mounts, Rolling Granite Carts and Steel Inspection Tables for measuring arms, and more. Each mount option comes standard with a 3-1/2”-8 mounting ring. We also produce various adapter plates and rings allow you to adapt our mounts to a wide range of different portable metrology hardware, including laser trackers, portable CMM arms, Theodolites, Total Stations, Laser Radar, and other similar optical instruments.

Our line of portable metrology tripods ranges from slimmer, lightweight, more budget friendly options to our ultra heavy-duty Pro Series TensionMAX models. Our Standard and Extra Tall Pro Series Tripods feature our patented TensionMAX design, which holds the tripod legs in tension and prevents the tripods from relaxing or moving once they’re set in place. Optional hard-sided wheeled cases are available for all lightweight metrology tripod models to ease transport and help protect your tripod while travelling. Our tripod models with carbon fiber integrated into the leg structure provide better vibration dampening when used with laser trackers.

We offer two sizes of Heavy-Duty Rolling Granite Carts for mounting portable measuring arms, such as FARO Arms, Hexagon Absolute Arms, Kreon Arms, and others. Our larger, industry-exclusive 28”X48” size is an excellent choice for mounting standard and extended length (2.5M+) FARO Quantum Arms, Hexagon Absolute Arms, and other similar models. Our smaller 24”X36” granite cart is a perfect fit for shorter arms, including 1M Quantum or Absolute, FARO Gage, or Verisurf Master3DGage Arms. These carts including locking swivel casters to secure them in place once they’re properly positioned, and the locking cabinets beneath the granite plates provide storage for various accessories. Both sizes of our granite carts include M8 threaded inserts in the granite plates as well as a 58-piece M8 clamping kit. Our line of fixture plate options nicely complements these granite metrology carts. Our knowledgeable, friendly sales staff can help you build the granite cart and fixturing package that best fits your metrology needs.

The Rhino Series line of Heavy Duty Rolling Metrology Stands was designed from the ground up with rigidity and stability in mind. They feature heavy duty ¾” diameter bolts through extended bearing surface to prevent rocking or wobbling at the top of the casting. The adjustable height stands also include a next-generation seal that will not corrode or dry out over time like previous generation leather seals. The double-locking upper casting has an extended clamping area and reinforced backbone to enhance rigidity, which is of utmost importance when mounting and stabilizing laser trackers, portable CMM Arms, and laser radar systems.

Our XT Rhino Series Rolling Metrology Stands integrate all the features of our standard Rhino Series Line for applications that require securely mounting your hardware in the 6’-10’ range. Aluminum and Carbon Fiber Extensions are stocked in a variety of lengths as well to add flexibility for all our mount options.

Both our Rhino Series and Warthog Series Rolling Metrology Stands offer an integrated laptop mount bushing on the top flange. This eliminates the need to purchase separate, costly laptop mounts, and it adds convenience and ease for portable CMM Arm users.

If your application calls for a strong magnetic mount, we have you covered. We offer strong, round magnetic mounts (often referred to as Mag Mounts) in 5”, 6”, and 8” diameters. These options support a wide variety of hardware, including portable CMM Arms, laser trackers, scanning systems, laser radar/LADAR, theodolites, and more. The 6” Mag Mount is most commonly used with portable CMM Arms and newer generation (lighter) laser trackers when mounted on flat, relatively smooth surfaces. If you have a shorter portable Arm or small scanning system, our 5” mag mount provides a more lightweight and economical option.

The ultra strong 8” Mag Mount has shown over 2000 lbs of average pull force in laboratory testing and is the ultimate option for the most demanding device mount challenges. This may include mounting a laser tracker sideways or upside down if other, more traditional mounting arrangements aren’t available or practical on your jobsite. For our budget conscious clients, our Economical Magnetic Mount offers lower pull force ratings, but also a lower price point. It is recommended only for use with short to mid-range portable CMM Arms on smooth, flat magnetic surfaces.
